Top 12 Episodes of Always Sunny in Philadelphia
In a show that seems to always have us laughing, these are the best episodes ranked. Numbers a re purely subjective and should be taken VERY serious.
Season 4 Episode 12 :The Gang Gets Extreme: Home Makeover Edition” (8.9)
An absolute electric scene with Dennis having the speaker over his head and tongue waving furiously in his mouth. Also the scene with the home make over account was classic and featured a soon to be star. While their intentions were good, the gang messed everything they possibly could in this episode. Hard to call it self sabotage when the were doing it for their own dream boards.
Season 6 Episode 3 “The Gang Buys a Boat” (8.9)
Using their dicktowel.com money the gang decides their best use of the money is to buy a P Diddy style party/speed boat. This leads them to buying a rundown speedboat where Dee, Charlie, and Frank are tasked with fixing it up, but not without condescension from their captain. Mac and Dennis decide to buy gear and going the boating lifestyle which leads to an all time scene of the implication as well as them thinking they are tasty treats for the boat community.
Season 9 Episode 3 “The Gang Tries Desperately to Win an Award” (8.9)
Every bar should have a song, it's not that complicated and good on Charlie for taking the initiative. This episode is about how the show never wins awards and to be fair we the audience don't mind that one bit. I feel if they went for awards we may not like it as much.
Season 10 Episode 7 “Mac Kills His Dad” (8.9)
We get to see Mac and Charlie try and clear Luther's name which is as bad as it sounds. Mac always seems to be making it worse for his Dad and this episode is no different. Also Charlies mom in this episode is an absolute goldmine of laughs, detailing her and Luther's time together.
Season 14 Episode 5 “The Gang Texts” (8.9)
This episode is set at a Zoo and not sure why it took this long to get the gang here. We get a creative look into the world of texting and how frustrating, confusing, and downright obnoxious it can be. Frank vs. the gorilla is also an all time beef.
Season 4 Episode 13 “The Nightmare Cometh” (9.1)
Frank singing about tolls and holes is for many the all time highlight of the show and with good reason. The whole play written by Charlie is hysterical between it being written in his poor English to the fact it was all for the waitress who despises him. Dennis getting way into it is also a very subtle funny thing.
Season 10 Episode 4 “Charlie Work” (9.1)
The gang overlooks Charlie and his work at the bar, but in this episode we follow him as he navigates an inspection and a miles scam. The truck driver being moved around and being served a burnt steak is about what I would expect this crew to be serving if the bar was a restaurant.
Season 12 Episode 2 “The Gang Goes to a Water Park” (9.1)
Three different story lines that converge at the end due to Frank going down an unopened slide and thinking it would be good after one bottle of water sums this one up pretty well.
Season 11 Episode 6 “Being Frank” (9.2)
We get to see Frank in POV and it does not disappoint, from not paying attention to the gangs plan and instead focusing on Pondy, Drugs, and ruining Artemis family sitting Shiva. For it to all roll together and Frank become the saving grace for the gang is just a cherry on top to an absolute all time episode.
Season 8 Episode 5 “The Gang Gets Analyzed” (9.5)
We get to see each character one on one with a Dee’s therapist is an absolute goldmine of comedy. Dennis having folders on everyone was creepy and funny, but somehow accurate with his findings. To think it was all over who washes the dishes makes it clear that we are dealing with the gang.
Season 8 Episode 10 “Reynolds vs. Reynolds: The Cereal Defense” (9.5)
After Frank hits Dennis in the car which causes Dennis to spill cereal all over his car the gang takes to a kangaroo court to solve the issue in house. What ensues is electric with the arguments slowly getting further and further from the case at hand, with Mac delivering an all time argument of Religion vs. Science.
Season 8 Episode 9 “The Gang Dines Out” (9.9)
What is supposed to be a relaxing monthly dinner for Mac and Dennis turns into an all out back and forth between the gang about respect. This bottle episode is the best in how it approaches the premise with no once of seriousness yet has each character on heightened alert.
