Ranking the first 15 seasons of Always Sunny in Philadelphia from worst to best
I sat down and watched all 15 seasons of always sunny in preparation of the new season coming out this week. Chronological order was the only way to go. With some of the episodes missing I had to skip over those as I was watching on Hulu, though I was able to find them and will write a blog on them on a later day. This show very rarely misses and I had graded the episodes with veracity to keep an honest ranking system going. The number next to each season is an average of the episode rankings.
15. Season 1 (4.94)
This season started it all but looking back it wasn't the best, at least compared to the rest. The season was a little ridiculous but it did introduce us to the gang and what we can come to expect. The bad picture quality I actually liked and thought looking back it added character to the show. It was not a bad season but when compared to the rest of the seasons it does not hold up.

Worst Episode: Episode 4 “Charlie Has Cancer”
14. Season 3 (7.37)
This season was a little setback from the second season which is not surprising since we were still figuring out who the characters were and their motivations. While there are some memorable parts of this season, this season among the rest, is in the backseat.

Worst Episode: Episode 15 “The Gang Dances Their Asses Off”
13. Season 6 (7.41)
The gang buying the boat was amazing which had me surprised how many lower ranked episodes there were. I mean the implication was an all time scene as well as the condescension between mates and captains.
Best Episode: Episode 3 “The Gang Buys a Boat”
Worst Episode: Episode 2 “Dennis Gets Divorced”
12. Season 7 (7.45)
An episode that had a remake it was so good, with Chardee MacDennis. I would love to play the game but am not sure I would be able to understand all the rules or find them online. This season ending with the class reunion was not great for me but that could be because I have yet to have a reunion myself yet.

Worst Episode: Episode 12 “The High School Reunion”
11. Season 2 (7.48)
Surprising that this season is this low but with so many top notch seasons they cant all be at the top. Seeing the bad side of the gang in scenarios where they should be their best is what makes this shows outrageous actions even better.
Best Episode: Episodes 6 and 10 “The Gang Gives Back and Dennis and Dee Get a New Dad”
Worst Episode: Episode 4 “Mac Bangs Dennis Mom”
10. Season 13 (7.51)
This season has a lot of episodes that weren't the best, one of them was the reboot episode where not a whole lot of new things occurred. They did make fun of the women focused reboots in a way that didn't offend. The top episode of mac finding his pride was not so much funny as it was empowering, the dance scene had my eyes peeled to the television.

Worst Episode: Episodes 3 and 7 “The Gang Beats Boggs: Ladies Reboot and The Gang Does a Clip Show”
9. Season 12 (7.88)
The waterpark episode was great and had me laughing throughout. The final scene with the thunder gun slide was hysterical and had the whole episode coming together. The surprise for me was my favorite episode being the Old Lady House, not sure if it was one moment or just the overall episode. The season was not a top season but as is every season of this show, a hit in its own right.

Worst Episode: Episode 1 “The Gang Turns Black”
8. Season 4 (7.93)
This season had some real highs and some real eh episodes. The first episode I watched in this show was from the season, The gang solves the gas crisis. The whole season seems to be them getting into crazier scenarios and having crazy plans that sorta work out.
Best Episode: Episode 13 “The Nightmare Cometh”
Worst Episode: Episode 7 “Who Pooped the Bed?”
7. Season 15 (7.96)
I think many say this season was not great but I loved the gang traveling to Ireland. The gang deciding on going to Ireland was also hysterical due to Charlie not knowing about Pittsburgh. The overall story in Ireland could have been better but each episode provided plenty of laughs.

Worst Episode: Episode 7 “Dee Sinks in a Bog”
6. Season 14 (8.01)
Not sure why it took fourteen seasons to have the gang go to the Zoo and it did not disappoint. The Meer cats have an awesome exhibit which shows the gang coming together. Also a top ten moment in the show is the fight scene in the Gang Gets New Wheels. There is an episode that I had to pause multiple times throughout in the janitor always mops twice. Overall the season is still a good one and had me laughing many times.

5. Season 10 (8.13)
Charlie work according to a few online blogs is the best episode in the series and with good reason, it is an amazing episode. This season shows the gang in increasingly more absurd scenarios and shows us how they would tackle them.

Worst Episode: Episode 9 “Frank Retires”
4. Season 9 (8.2)
The gun fever episode was almost the top episode of the season but who doesn't love a little Carly are Jepson blasting with too much light at a bar. Is it sad that I would prefer paddy's to that place? Also every bar should have its own song, more like the first than the second one Charlie performed. This season has hit after hit that I keep coming back to.

Worst Episode: Episode 1 “The Gang Broke Dee”
3. Season 5 (8.21)
The middle seasons are where this show hit its stride and season five hangs with the best of them. From meeting Vic Vinegar to going to dave and busters this season hits on points that were relevant at the time and somehow are coming back into relevance.

Worst Episode: Episodes 7 and 11 “The Gang Wrestles for the Troops and Mac and Charlie Write a Movie”
2. Season 11 (8.46)
Being Frank may be one of the best episodes in the series that is an episode that does not connect with any others and yet helps push the series along. It is nice to turn on and not have to connect subplots from other movies or some huge narrative, but instead just enjoy the product in front of you, which happens many times in this season.

Worst Episode: Episodes 3 and 10 “The Gang Hits the Slopes and The Gang Goes to Hell: Part Two”
1. Season 8 (8.54)
The best overall season top to bottom with three of the shows best episodes being The Gang gets Analyzed, Reynolds vs Reynolds Cereal Defense, and The Gang Dines Out. All three bottle episodes that touch on evolution, mental health, and most importantly respect. This show knocked it out of the park, at the midway point of the show. This could be because we know the character flaws as well as what makes each character tick now.
