Raising Canes
Raising Canes-
A place that does only one thing? Focuses on dominating one thing? Thats a balls on the table move right there. You get glory or ridicule, but Todd Graves set out with a vision of what chicken fingers could be. We didn't respect them with the reverence he thought they deserved. Going into the parking lot of this place, it had a lot to live up to in my mind. When I first got there, some construction was happening and I left in confusion. Going back a few hours later, I picked up a combo so I could try many different things. I tried the chicken fingers, fries, bread, coleslaw, and canes sauce. Lets start with the main thing, the chicken fingers (even after sitting for a little while), were delicious, well seasoned, and crispy. Not that I indulge in chicken fingers a lot but when you taste something above the rest, you know and in this case it was evident right away. The Texas toast bread was exactly what you would expect, a little butter spread on it, there is something comfortable about being given what you expect. It feels like home, some familiarity, a place you have been, when in this case it was my first time. The fries are crinkle cut, not my favorite fries but not the worst. The coleslaw had a bad reputation from what I heard from others I had talked to, but it was pretty standard. Im not the biggest fan of creamy coleslaw but this was nothing better or worse than standard creamy coleslaw in my opinion. Let me take a quick minute to talk about the Canes sauce. Chick-fil A is on watch, this sauce is tangy yet has a full taste to it. I enjoyed the fries immensely more with the sauce. Not that you should choose your dining for the night on a condiment, but if you were to do this it would be at this establishment.
Overall I had a great experience, with a friendly staff that greeted and served us our drive through order in a timely manner. All the way through the food, was less gimmick and more substance than normal of places that have this level of hype. I recommend stopping in and having a tender, maybe a few if you get that canes sauce.
