Fogo de Chao Review
Non stop service with plates of meat whistling past your head, your neck turning hard to see what is coming and going past the table with you hand securely on your card ready to turn over. Fogo de Chao is a Brazilian steakhouse chain where the “main event” is access to an enormous salad bar that is as exciting as intimidating. The Caipirinha is the national drink of Brazil, so naturally it shows up on this establishments menu. I’ve had better but this one did help in the meal, washing down the food. I loaded up on caesar salad, caprese salad, pineapple, grapefruit, cheeses, corn salad or salsa I'm not sure, and roasted peppers. On the table when we got back were sitting some nice fluffy small cheese bread items. These were poppers, literally meaning I ate them whole by popping them in my mouth. The meat is cut table side for the most part off a larger cut, quite a lot of the meat I received needed to be cooked more to be polite about it. The bacon wrapped items were generally better as the bacon fat had most likely kept the meat from drying out. The meat as a whole was very rarely done well but more often came out undercooked or overcooked. The sausage had good flavor but could have been taken off a few minutes before. For the money put down I left unsatisfied with the meat that I had and am not rushing back anytime soon, I will be countering with someplace else the next time someone suggest we go to this chain.
The star of the show for the dishes/meats running around was so clearly the grilled/cooked cheese that they topped with honey. The sweetness of the honey gave the cheese flavor a leg up that allowed all to dance in unison. This dish was so popular that we specifically requested it at what must have been the same time as others in the restaurant. They had to cook some more to serve our appetites and passed us by the first time to get to the table that must have ordered before us, but looped around back to us.
Overall I am not recommending this place unless you are having a one meal day in which this or any buffet stye restaurant may be all that can end you hunger. The meat was disappointing, the wait time for our reservation seating was annoying, the lack of service from our server, and the price for all this was just a little too much for me.
