Jets Pizza

Italy has the Neapolitan pizza, New York has the iconic slice, Chicago has the round deep dish, but years ago Detroit decided to create something their way. A pizza made in the pans where parts had historically been stored in factories. While many people still are unaware of this style of pizza, there have been a few places that embraced this style and a couple that have taken it nationwide. Jets is the biggest player in this style helping bring this hometown hit to the masses.

One night during my week I felt like not cooking and opted to instead order an eight corner pizza from this chain. It is really just two small four corner pizzas put in the same box, but marketing seems to trick the mind with this one. I ordered a cheese pizza with a bottle of Jets ranch as a loyal follower instructed me that it was a top tier ranch.

A standard 8 corner pizza with just cheese was ordered, the sauce was on the sweeter side yet had a good full spice combination in it, very herbal on some bites. No part of the pizza was overwhelming, the cheese was good, crunch on the bottom was good, a little doughy in the center as is to be expected in a Detroit deep dish pizza. The edges are as close to perfection as you can get, with elite crispiness and cheese that has amazing flavor. Its the peak of flavor cheese can have melting into the dough and allowing crispiness to come through. It's not burnt but is as close as you want it to be.

Overall Pizza: 8.4/10

Edge Bites: 9.3/10

The ranch was solid, I'm not a huge ranch guy so take this with a grain of salt. There was not a super strong flavor but it was very creamy. Not overpowering, almost felt like deep flavor that didn't ever come through with a punch. Complimented the pizza well, blending in with the rest of the flavors.

Ranch: 7.5/10

Jets Pizza is a treat, a gut bomb yes, but a treat for special occasions nonetheless. The sweeter sauce with the near perfect cheese on the corners lends to me craving it time to time and am disappointed in the product not very often. Grab a Detroit Deep Dish pie from Jets next time you are craving a pie.
