Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Pass Wave 4 Review
With the launch of wave four of the Mario kart booster pass a review is in order.
When the full lineup was announced it was initially not eye catching, at least not to my eyes. Some courses were a surprise to bring back based on what I had seen leaked as well as the library of tracks from those games that was available.
Fruit Cup
Amsterdam Drift (Tour)- This course takes us through multiple parts of this iconic city. I love the tulips and the canals that give it an authentic feel of the city. 8.6/10
Riverside Park (GBA)- The moving plants give this refreshed course a whole new feel. Like the other gameboy based tracks the simplicity is there but they built up on it and made an aesthetically appealing track. 7.3/10
DK Summit (Wii)- I loved this course on the Wii and this course has all the same turns. Something feels different with it and the boost at the top of the pipes are not very good. Seems like this track took a few steps back. 7.4/10
Yoshi’s Island- This new track has some great touches but overall does not excite when driving around. I like the creativity and maybe since I have not played the game its based on I’m missing context but overall will skip this course when choosing. 6.4/10
Boomerang Cup
Bangkok Rush (Tour)- A city that has my heart and always will is actually creatively done. The river section is interesting and lively. Love the train/subway track section above the road that gives the authentic feeling of being in the city. Also the roads in the game feel like you are in the city, overall an enjoyable experience on this track. 8.2/10
Mario Circuit (DS)- Out of all the courses they could have brought back from Mario Kart DS. People thought it would be Luigi's mansion or airship fortress, both of which would have been better in my opinion. This course is fine but overall is a little boring, would have loved to drive through the caste. 7.2/10
Wario Stadium (GCN)- The refresh on this track was done so well, it looks and feels like a whole new track. The addition of boost on the walls and changes to the middle part with protruding plants make this almost an entirely new track. 8.9/10
Singapore Speedway (Tour)- The best track in the whole pass for me. Having been to this city they include every major landmark or thing the see, such as the hotel shaped like a boat and the trees that light up at night. Every turn is exciting and has something new. This will be a track I come back to and play a lot. 9.2/10
